Tax refund » Maternity Benefit
You are entitled to receive Maternity Benefit while you are on maternity leave if you have paid enough PRSI contributions in the previous year. The maximum amount of maternity benefit that can be claimed is €280 per week for 26 weeks.
Maternity benefit is not taxable.
If you are receiving your maternity benefit directly from Revenue you will receive it tax free. If you are being paid your maternity benefit through your employer, tax may have been deducted by your employer in error.
If any tax was paid by you on your maternity benefit this can be claimed back and may result in a refund of tax to you!
